Passenger and Vehicle Ferry

The Kingfisher Bay Ferry has four services to the resort each day from River Heads and return. This ferry has two decks with a fully licensed bar and snack food available. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes.

Address: Shop 7/54, River Heads Shopping Village, River Heads Road, River Heads, Queensland 4655. (Note: River Heads Road becomes Ariadne Street at the Shopping Village)

Guests are advised to arrive at the mainland reception 40 minutes prior to ferry departure for check in. A courtesy shuttle from the Mainland Reception to ferry will leave 10 minutes prior to ferry departure time. If your ferry is departing prior to 8:30am, please continue straight down River Heads Road, for check in at The Ticket Hut. 

NOTE: Unless specified, ferry costs are not included in your resort room rate.

The Kingfisher Bay ferry schedule is as follows:

Departure from River Heads to Kingfisher Bay Resort: 7.00am, 9.00am, 1.00pm & 3.45pm
Departure from Kingfisher Bay Resort to River Heads: 8.00am, 10.15am, 2.30pm & 5.00pm

River Heads Mainland Reception / Ticket Hut:

This office will operate 7 days a week to provide services to barge, tours and resort guests. 

River Heads Mainland Reception will open from 08:00am - 16:00pm

The Ticket Hut (Located by the River Heads Boat Ramp) is open from 06:30 - 13:00 and 13:45 - 16:00pm daily, closed on Christmas Day.

#Please check ferry times carefully before booking airfares and allow enough travelling time. The travelling time across the Great Sandy Strait is 50 minutes and it is approximately 15 minutes from River Heads to the airport. If you are using our portering service, please allow extra time to identify and collect your bags.

  • Should crossing times change during cases of extreme low tides, our Reservations team will inform you at time of booking or check out our Facebook page for updates.

Car parking is available in the secure lot at Kingfisher Bay Mainland Reception, for those not taking a vehicle across to Fraser Island.

$25 per item return or $15 per item one way for any luggage or other items which cannot be carried & kept with passengers during their journey.
House guests at Kingfisher Bay Resort are excluded from luggage charge.
