Illumina Light Show

WARNING: The Illumina Light Show features high-intensity lights, laser effects, and rapidly flashing visuals. For your safety, please remain within the designated seated area at all times during the show. Moving outside of this area may expose you to hazardous lighting angles that could cause injury or, in extreme cases, lead to temporary or permanent vision impairment, including blindness.

This show is not recommended for individuals with photosensitive epilepsy or other light-sensitive medical conditions, as the intense flashing and strobe effects may trigger seizures or other adverse reactions. Viewer discretion is strongly advised. Please consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns prior to attending.

Additionally, flash photography is strictly prohibited. Unauthorized use of flash or bright lighting devices can interfere with the show’s visual elements and pose a danger to both yourself and others.
By attending the Illumina Light Show, you acknowledge and accept these risks. Viewer safety is a priority—please follow all posted guidelines and staff instructions.

Q: What time is check in and checkout?
A: Check in is from 02:00pm, and checkout is at 10:00am.

Q: Is the accommodation airconditioned?
A: Hotel rooms are fully air-conditioned. Not all villas are full air-conditioning. Some are full and some are partial.

Fully air-conditioned villas can be requested at the time of booking or by contacting our reservations team (subject to availability).

Q: Are hotel rooms serviced throughout stay?
A: Guests staying in hotel rooms have the option to have their room serviced.

Should you wish for Housekeeping to service your room, simply insert the 'Please Make Up My Room' sign into your door, prior to 08:00am on the day required.

Q: Are villas serviced throughout stay?
A: No, villas are not serviced throughout stay. Villas are privately owned, self-contained accommodation options. As such, guests are required to bring all their own amenities including food, oil, seasonings, toilet paper etc. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, linen and bath towels are provided.

Q: How do I settle my account upon departure?
A: Your final invoice will be sent to your room overnight and will be on your doorstep when you wake up on day of departure. To finalise payment, simply sign the bottom of the invoice and place it in the Express Check Out box in reception. Please note that a 1.15% credit card surcharge applies to Visa and MasterCard and a 2% surcharge applies to American Express transactions. We will send your receipt to the email address we have on file.

Q: Do rooms have a safe?
A: Yes, hotel rooms have a safe.

Q: What are the accommodation options when travelling with kids? 
A: Kingfisher Bay Resort is very family-friendly, with a range of accommodation options, including interconnecting hotel rooms as well as 2 and 3-bedroom villas.

Q: Are infants free?  
A: Yes, infants 0-3 are free, regardless of the room rate or package you’ve booked.

This applies for touring as well, however guests will need to bring forward-facing child seat as per QLD road rules.

Cots can be supplied for $15 per night (limited availability), or families can bring their own portable cot.

Alcohol Restrictions

Christmas Day and Good Friday - The QLD Government restricts the sale of alcohol on Christmas Day and Good Friday. To purchase alcohol, you must also purchase a main meal. This permits those patrons to purchase alcohol one hour before eating their meal, and for one hour after finishing their meal (a main meal is defined as food eaten by a person at a table with cutlery provided for the purpose of eating on site and is of sufficient substance). Sale of take-way liquor is not permitted on both days.

Anzac Day (25th April) - On Anzac Day each year the QLD Government restricts alcohol service trading hours - from 10am to 1pm, liquor may only be sold or supplied with a main meal in an area that is ordinarily set aside for dining and must be eaten on site. Patrons who purchase a main meal between 10am and 1pm can purchase alcohol 1 hour before eating their meal, while they are eating their meal, and for 1 hour after finishing their meal (a meal is defined as food eaten by a person at a table with cutlery provided for the purpose of eating on site and is of sufficient substance). Sale of take-away liquor is not permitted before 1pm on Anzac Day. After 1pm on Anzac Day normal trading hours and conditions apply.

Passenger and Vehicle Ferry ex River Heads/Hervey Bay
This service must be pre-booked and a cost* will apply unless otherwise stipulated in your booking. If you would like to make a vehicle ferry booking please click here or call our reservations team on 1800 227 437. Please arrive at our Mainland Reception (located at Shop 8, River Heads Shopping Village, Ariadne St, River Heads) at least 40 minutes prior to your ferry departure to allow sufficient time for check-in, ticketing, luggage collection and vehicle parking.

Dangerous goods restrictions for barges are:
Petrol - Maximum 2 x 20L drums, Gas - Maximum 2 x 9kg bottles, Diesel - No limit
*All goods must be transported in approved containers and we reserve the right to refuse to take the goods if they are not. It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure the goods are in approved containers.

Caring for Wheelchair-Bound Guests
The Kingfisher Bay Ferry is fitted with a chair lift. Please advise us at time of booking if this service is required. Villas are located on the surrounding hillsides of the resort grounds and have stairs. Elderly guests or those in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties are strongly advised to consider hotel rooms. Should someone in your party have any difficulties, please call our Reservations team so we can discuss the best option for you.

4WD Driving
K'gari is a sand island, a 4WD vehicle and a QPWS driving permit is required to experience the sights outside the resort grounds. Please contact Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service before arrival to purchase a vehicle driving permit on 13 QGOV (13 74 68) or click on the link here.

Security Car Parking
This service is available from our River Heads Mainland Reception and must be pre-booked. More information is available here.

Bus Transfers
Bus transfers can be pre-booked from hotels, resorts, caravan parks and hostels within Hervey Bay. Pre-booking is essential and additional costs may apply.

Airport Transfers (Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast Airport)
Pre-booking is essential and a cost will apply.

Arrival: Please make your way from the arrivals hall to the first bus stop. This is located to the far right end of the building when exiting the airport. A representative will meet you and transfer you to our Mainland Reception for check-in and shuttle transfer to the next available ferry service.

Departure: Kingfisher Bay Resort's shuttle bus will complete the return leg back to the airport. More information is available here.

Please note: Ferries are unable to be held for late arrivals. If you do not check-in by the requested time, you may miss your ferry and will be required to travel on the next available service. (An additional ticket purchase may apply).

Arrival / Check In Information - Travel via Riverheads Mainland Reception
Please check in at our Mainland Reception (located at Shop 8, River Heads Shopping Village, Ariadne St, River Heads) at least 40 minutes prior to your ferry departure to allow sufficient time for check-in, ticketing, luggage collection and vehicle parking. Kingfisher Bay Resort access to accommodation is from 2:00 PM.

Arrival / Check In Information - Travel via Wanggoolba Creek Ferry and Inskip barge Crossings
Please make your way to Kingfisher Bay Resort reception located in the main complex building. Kingfisher Bay Resort access to accomdation is from 2:00 PM. Please note the ferry crossing at Inskip point is not operated by Sealink Ferries.

Porterage, Luggage Handling and Weight Policy
Due to Australian Workplace Health and Safety requirements, the maximum acceptable weight for any single piece of luggage is 25kgs. If your luggage exceeds 25kg, you will be asked by our reception staff to pack down or porterage services will not be available. Each guest may check-in two items of luggage (each piece weighing no more than 25kgs) free of charge. Additional checked items will incur a handling fee of $10.00 per item.

Security Bond at Kingfisher Bay Resort
Our resort check-in time is from 2:00 PM on day of arrival and your credit card is required upon check-in for security deposit. Resort hotel accommodation requires a security deposit of $200 for incidentals during your stay. In the event that accommodation or transfers were not prepaid, the value of the stay and transfers will be held as a payment in addition to $200 for incidentals. If no credit card is available, a cash or debit card payment can be made on check in to the same amount with a refund of the difference on check out.

Villas & houses require a security deposit of $300 for incidentals during your stay. In the event that accommodation or transfers were not prepaid, the value of the stay and transfers will be held as a payment in addition to $300 for incidentals. If no credit card is available, a cash or debit card payment can be made on check in to the same amount with a refund of the difference on check out.

Touring and Resort Activities
If you have pre-booked tours and activities, we ask that you please confirm departure times and meeting points with our reception team on arrival. Pre-booking prior to arrival is essential for all activites, touring, Day Spa and restaurants to ensure availability and to avoid disappointment. Please note we do not carry children under the age of 1 on the 4WD Bus tours including the Beauty Spots Tour. More information on touring is available here or on our activities page.

Departing guests are asked to vacate rooms by 10:00am on day of departure. Late checkouts can be requested at an additional cost and are subject to availability, speak with Reception Staff.

Morning and late afternoon ferry services are available for your transfer back to the mainland. Guests are welcome to store their bags in our secure storage room and use the resort facilities after check out. We suggest guests pack and keep a day bag with them, as luggage will not be available until arrival back to Hervey Bay.

Cleaning and Departure: Villas and Houses
Houses and Villas are fully self-contained and as such are not serviced* and amenities not replenished. We ask on departure, that the property is left in a clean and tidy state including removal of rubbish and dishes washed and put away to avoid additional cleaning charges.
*Linen drop or servicing available on request, costs apply.

Securing a Booking

  • All reservations require credit card details to secure bookings and payment will be charged upon check out, excluding special rates where payment is required as requested in the below conditions.
  • During peak season, a deposit equivalent to 1 nights’ accommodation rate or package booked with full payment required, no less than 30 days prior to arrival date.
  • Please see below for payment options and credit card surcharges.

Tours, Services and Activities

  • On arrival please confirm departure time and location for your tour with Reception.
  • Cancellation fees apply on all touring and resort activity bookings within 48 hours of departure (unless included in a package, where the package cancellation/amendment fees apply).
  • Date changes may be accepted, subject to availability.
  • Where tours and/or resort activities have been cancelled by management for reasons beyond our control, a full refund will be offered.
  • Please note we do not carry children under the age of 1 on this tour.

4WD Hire: Terms and Conditions
Cancellation Policy: 4WD Hire

  • More than 14 days notice of cancellation: No cancellation fee applies.
  • Less than 14 days notice of cancellation: $250.00 cancellation fee.
  • Less than 48 hours notice of cancellation: Cancellation fee of full hire.
  • Non utilised components not refunde.
  • Rates subject to change.

Items Not Included (Payable direct to hire company)
The following items are not included in the rate above.

  1. Fuel: All Aussie Trax 4WD vehicles are taken out full and returned full, there is no extra charge for kilometres. Should the car require
    refuelling, Aussie Trax will impose a fuel charge to refuel the vehicle at the hirer's cost.
  2. Insurance Waiver: Optional.
  3. Vehicle Permit: A vehicle permit to drive on K'gari is required by QPWS. This permit is normally purchased at the time of vehicle
    collection at a cost of AUD $65.00. This cost is subject to change without notice.

Pre-hire Briefing & Safety Video
Aussie Trax’s highest priority is safety so it is important that all hirers sit a 40 minute video detailing laws and driving conditions on K'gari. This is completed directly before travel, unless prior arrangements have been made. During this time insurance is also explained in detail to our hirers; and a demonstration on use of 4wd controls is performed. All drivers must read a copy of our survival code during the briefing, which explains in layman's terms the rental agreement and other essential information for driving on K'gari. The survival code is available in 8 different languages for the convenience of our guests.

Amendments

  • Please note that date amendments are classed as a cancellation within the cancellation period.
  • Date amendments (excluding Best Available Rate and packages) within the cancellation period may be accepted, subject to availability and at the discretion of the Reservations Management (Conditions and/or fees may apply).
  • Amendment to some bookings may be subject to conditions and/or fees.

Prices

  • All prices and inclusions are subject to change without notice. Seasonal variations apply.
  • Package inclusions that are not used during the stay are not refundable.
  • Cancellation fees apply on all touring and resort activity bookings within 48 hours of departure (unless included in a package where the package cancellation/amendment fees apply).

Payment Options

Credit Cards: Payment can be made via Visa, MasterCard or American Express. A 1.15% surcharge applies to VISA and MASTERCARD and 2% for AMEX credit card payments.

Direct Deposit: Please note that direct deposit funds will not clear our accounts department within 7 days of arrival; please ensure that all payments are made outside of this time frame. When making payment please use your booking confirmation number and booking surname as reference.
